Interview with Miss Brittany

Alright, another interview!  This one is with the lovely Miss Brittany, who has graciously donated something to my giveaway list (so be sure to check back on Wednesday to see what it is!). Another note that THIS Wednesday the present giveaway ends!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Well, I'm a 20 something housewife. I've been married to my best friend for almost 3 years. I love making things, and I love the outdoors and working with natural products. I grew up on a farm, so I'm  a country girl- but a girly country girl. =) You'll almost always find me in my bare feet, camera in hand, spending time with my man, getting together with friends, petting some kind of animal, or looking for flowers and things to take pictures of.

When did you first begin doing soap making and your other bath supplies?

I was probably 7 or so when I learned soapmaking from my mom. I've always loved it. In 2009 I started Mountain Creek Soaps, Candles and Gifts, and made mostly soaps for the first year or so. All of my recipes are original to me, and coming up with new scents and looks is one of my favorite things to do! This year I've started to branch out into other bath and body products, like my organic hand cream and bath salts. I have just recently added beeswax candles, and I plan on expanding that section of my shop a lot this winter.

What is your favorite thing to make in your shop and why?

I'd say the soaps are probably my favorite thing to make. I just love playing with scents, herbs, and colors. Since I use only natural ingredients, it causes me to think outside the box to get interesting colors and scents without the use of synthetic colors and scents.

How long have you been on Etsy?

I've been on Etsy since the fall of 2009. It was an easy choice to sign up there because it's easy to use and doesn't cost much, and gives me a GREAT store front to send people to.

What inspired you to start you Etsy shop?

As a newly married stay at home wife, I wanted something productive to do with my time. (Lets face it, keeping house for two people isn't all that time consuming!) I have really enjoyed starting my own little business. It's been really fun and rewarding!
Do you have any suggestions for fellow Etsians?
Just, make sure what you are doing is something you love, and promote promote promote! Etsy only works if you have good pictures of your products, good descriptions so people know what they're buying, and if you're willing to work to get your name and products out there!

Anything else you would like to share?
I would love to have everyone check out my blog, mountaincreekblog@blogspot.com , and like my Facebook page  http://www.facebook.com/mountaincreekgift to keep up to date on what is going on! I love to hear from you! =)

Thank you so much, Miss Brittany!  Be sure to go and check out her lovely shop and blog!  And remember to enter the giveaway Wednesday.  You won't want to miss out!

Brittany sounds like a very interesting young lady. I'll have to go and pay her a visit.

Your peach milk shake sounds good too. Maybe I'll try it sometime. :)

Thank you for visiting my blog today and leaving a comment. It truly made me smile. I do hope you will come back for future visits. :)
