Never done this before...

...but that doesn't mean I have to keep it that way.  What have I never done before?? I have never shared parts of my books on here.   As many of you know, I am an aspiring authoress.  God has given me a gift, and I want to use that gift to Glorify Him.
There isn't a whole lot to say, except that I hope you enjoy reading just a little bit of this new book.  I plan to get this one finished by next year and hopefully published.....but we'll see what happens! It's in God's hands, so no need to worry, that is for sure! :-)  Also, I haven't come up with a title yet.. as another many of you know, I have a hard time coming up with titles..... =D  So without further ado....... My book, {No Title}:

The broad sword of his enemy flashed in the sunlight as the blade screamed towards his head.   He had been caught by surprise with this attack and barely had enough time to bring his own sword up to block it.  His blade hardly slowed down the alarming speed of his opponent’s.  The skillfully sharpened metal crashed into his helmet knocking it off and sending him reeling.  Blood trickled down the side of his face mixed with the sweat that made his appearance shiny; the result of a long, hard fight.  As he careened backwards, his opponent grabbed him by his breastplate and pulled him forward.
“Let that teach a lesson to you, dog!”  He snarled before he pushed the fainting man away from him.
As he crashed heavily to the ground, Trent lost all feeling.  The world slowly stripped away.  The sounds of battle around him became faint, barely audible.  The trees above him swayed and became blurred until all was black.

He awoke with the feeling that he was being drug.  Yes, he was most certainly being hauled along through the tall, dry grass, but he couldn’t remember what had happened.  Trent summoned his strength to lift his head off of his chest and look up at his captor, or perhaps rescuer, but to no avail.  Licking his parched lips, he struggled to remember what had happened.
He noticed that whoever was carrying him was breathing hard, is if he was a heavy load for them.  Once again he tried lifting his head.  Fresh blood from his wound came trickling down his face.  Trent became dizzy and rested his chin on his chest as his  eyes slowly closed and all became dark.

I hope you let me know what you thought!!!

In Christ's Service,
Sarah

So wait... you aren't gonna let us read a little bit more? Who is the rescuer/attacker/dragger... whoever it is?!

I loved reading the excerpt! I hope there will be more 'sneak-peeks' to come!

I know what you mean about a title - it took us for-ev-er to come up with 'surprise engagements'. lol.

First of all, thank you, everyone, for your wonderful comments!! They were all so very sweet.

Perhaps I will share a bit more.... or maybe I will leave you hanging... lol! The only problem with sharing a lot of stuff like this online is that someone else can come along and steal it, publish it themselves, etc. So, I probably won't post the whole thing. Sorry! But, you see, it's all part of my plan to get y'all to buy it later... hehehe!! Just kidding..

Atlanta,
Ha, that is funny about the title! It fits so perfectly, though.. :)

*claps wildly* I wish you could put up more but I completely understand why you are hesitant to do so. I certainly wouldn't want to see this pirated or something. o.O

Sarah, if you need someone to proofread your book I am more than willing to volunteer.... :-)

May,
Thanks!! I may put up a little more, but just not all of it. :)

Carolyn,
Thank you! I'll keep that in mind.. :)

Wow, you do have a tremendous gift as a future authoress. I echo what everyone else has been saying in that I want to read more, but I understand that someone may steal it. How greedy that would be, but that is just the way the world is. Completely filled with sin since the fall of man.

Also, if you want a tip on figuring out a title for the book, write the whole book first. Every (I shouldn't say every, almost every :) author pinpoints a title when the book is complete, because you have already written the theme, about the variety of settings, characters, the plot, and what not. When you have written about everything, the title becomes easier to contrive from your mind. Just a tip.

If you still have a difficult time trying to figure out a title, send me a copy of the book through my e-mail and I will generate multiple titles that you could choose from, after I have read the whole book. I can derive titles fairly easily when it comes to creating a catchy title from a multiple paged book or article.

So, if you need my help, I would be glad to generate an eye-opening title for you. E-mail me or comment on my blog. And, of course, you have the final say. :)

In Christ,
Joshua :)

Lilac Bud Gal,

I haven't been here in awhile (shame on me), and it's a good thing I came today because I didn't know that I would get to read a portion of a story.

This is GOOD! You need to share more of these stories. I can appreciate a good writer, for which I am not. I can scribble a few meaningless poetic verses here and there, but it takes much more talent to compose a short story like this one.

I am hoping, Lord willing, that you will be able to finish your story. Sounds exciting! :)

Joshua,
Thank you for the comment! I am glad you enjoyed it, but also understand about me not wanting to post a lot of it. Yes, it is rather sad to think that people would do that.... guess we just get to look forward to the day when our King comes back and we don't have to worry about that, right?

Thank you for your offer. I will definitely keep that in mind. It's funny because titles and names have always been my biggest problem.... I just figured that when I needed them, God would give them to me.. :) So, perhaps when I finish it, you will have a job! lol!

Lady Rose,
Thank you ever so much! I know how it goes.. sometimes I neglect blogs for long periods of time.. life happens. :)

Thank you for the compliment! However, I can't let you say that.. You write beautiful, thoughtful poetry!! And I disagree.. poetry is MUCH harder to write.. I have tried it before and... well, let's just say I certainly couldn't do it. :)
Thank you very much, though. :)

I am so glad that you teased everyone with this snippet from your latest story. I am also very glad that I know where the computer is kept so that I can sneak a peek at the rest of the story!!! I wouldn't do that, of course, but I am glad that I am your Editor!! When do I get to work on it?? It's great, and I know that you'll continue with HIS beautiful message woven throughout. You certainly do honor HIM with your gift, and I'm proud of you for doing that. Love you!! QM
